Bad Electrical Planning on a Fit-Out Costs You Twice
A shop or office fit-out moves fast. Builders, joiners, painters and other trades are all working to a deadline, and the electrical needs to keep up. When the electrical isn’t planned properly from the start, you end up with power points in the wrong spots, lighting that doesn’t suit the space, switchboards that can’t handle the load or compliance issues that hold up your opening. Getting the right electrician involved early makes everything easier, and avoids expensive changes down the track.
Here’s what we commonly deal with on fit-out jobs:
- New tenancy requiring a full electrical installation from scratch
- Existing space being refurbished with new lighting, power and switchboard works
- Shopfront or office needing LED lighting that reflects the standard of the business
- Commercial kitchen or workroom requiring dedicated circuits and power distribution
- Emergency and exit lighting installation required for compliance
- Coordination with builders and other trades to hit key construction milestones
- Switchboard assessment or upgrade required before fit-out works can proceed
Wrong Power Points, Inadequate Lighting, a Switchboard That Can't Handle the Load - It's Expensive to Fix After the Fact
The most common electrical problems on fit-outs aren’t caused by bad workmanship, they’re caused by poor planning. Power points positioned without thinking about furniture or equipment layout. Lighting specified without considering the brand or the customer experience. Switchboards that were never assessed for the additional load a fit-out brings. These things are straightforward to get right at the start and genuinely painful to fix once the walls are lined and the joinery is in.
Getting the electrical scoped properly before works begin, and working with an electrician who understands how fit-outs run, is the most cost-effective decision you can make on a commercial project.

Got a Fit-Out Coming Up? Let's Talk Early.
Getting us involved at the planning stage makes the whole job smoother - we'll assess the space, scope the electrical works and give you a clear quote before anything is locked in.
We Work With Your Build - Not Against It
A fit-out electrician needs to be organised, communicative and able to work alongside other trades without causing delays. Here’s how we approach every fit-out job:
We assess the space and scope the works upfront
Before quoting, we’ll walk through the tenancy or premises with you, understand what’s needed and identify anything that needs to be resolved before works can start – including switchboard capacity and metering requirements.
We coordinate with your builder and other trades
Fit-outs require sequencing. We work to your build program, show up when we’re supposed to and communicate any issues before they become delays. No chasing, no surprises.
We install lighting that suits the space and the brand
Whether it’s clean LED panel lighting for an office, feature lighting for a retail space or task lighting for a commercial kitchen- we install lighting that actually works for how the space will be used.
We handle power, data rough-in and switchboard works
Power distribution, dedicated circuits for equipment, switchboard upgrades and data rough-in coordination – we handle all the electrical elements of the fit-out so you’re not managing multiple contractors for the same scope.
We install emergency and exit lighting to compliance
Emergency and exit lighting is a legal requirement in commercial premises. We install, test and commission all emergency and exit lighting to Australian Standards, with documentation provided at handover.
We complete, test and hand over properly
Before handover, every circuit is tested, every fitting confirmed working and all compliance documentation is provided. You’ll receive everything you need for your certificate of occupancy and future maintenance records.

Had Integrity Power Solutions out for a sizeable issue at our place. Harrison sorted it without any fuss. Showed up on time, easy to deal with, and explained what was going on. Harrison and Integrity Power Solutions Pty Ltd have been fantastic to work with. I had several electrical matters that I wanted and needed attending to in my home. Harrison provided a courteous and professional initial engagement via email, which then extended through in-person quoting and job completion. Harrison was on time, responsive, knowledgeable and able to offer advice to any relevant query thrown his way. The completed work was completed to a very high standard with all areas (being most rooms in my home) respectfully left tidy after after works were completed. I wouldn't hesitate to ask Harrison and Integrity Power Solutions to undertake any future electrical work that may be required in my home. Thank you for a job well done!Posted on Google![]()

Absolutely 10/10. From the first message he was quick to respond, clear in communication, and very professional. He arrived exactly on time and completed the job to a very high standard. You can tell he takes real pride in his work and wants the result to be perfect. Very polite, very presentable, and a pleasure to deal with. It’s rare to find someone this reliable and easy to work with. I would not hesitate to recommend him and would happily hire him again.
Your Business Deserves an Electrician Who Understands How Fit-Outs Work
Get in touch for a free quote on your shop or office fit-out. We'll come out, assess the space and give you a clear scope and honest pricing - before anything is locked in.
1. When should we get the electrician involved in a fit-out?
As early as possible, ideally at the design or planning stage before any building works start. Getting us involved early means we can flag any switchboard or metering issues upfront, coordinate with your builder from the start and make sure the electrical scope is properly included in the overall budget.
2. Do you work directly with builders and project managers?
Yes, and we're used to it. We work to build programs, attend site when required and communicate directly with whoever is managing the project. We understand that on a fit-out, delays cost money, and we plan our works accordingly.
3. Can you handle the full electrical scope of a fit-out?
Yes. We handle everything from switchboard assessment and upgrade through to lighting installation, power distribution, dedicated equipment circuits, data rough-in coordination and emergency and exit lighting. You deal with one electrician for the full scope.
4. Is emergency and exit lighting required in my premises?
In most commercial premises, yes, emergency and exit lighting is a legal requirement under Australian Standards. The specific requirements depend on the size and use of the premises. We'll assess what's required for your tenancy and install, test and certify everything to the correct standard.
5. Can you work around our trading hours if we're refurbishing an existing space?
Yes. For businesses refurbishing while trading, we'll plan the works to minimise disruption, including scheduling noisy or intrusive works outside trading hours where required. Let us know your constraints upfront and we'll plan accordingly.
6. How do you quote a fit-out job?
We'll walk through the space with you, understand the full scope of works and provide a clear, itemised quote. For larger jobs, we may provide a preliminary estimate based on drawings before a site visit. Either way, you'll know exactly what's included before any work is committed to.
